Job Description:
The VMware vSphere Senior Level Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of VMware vSphere virtualization infrastructure. This position requires expertise in VMware vSphere, including the ability to perform migrations from Hyper-V to VMware. The engineer should have hands-on experience with MX7000 administration and configuration, as well as PowerStore administration. The primary goal of this role is to ensure the efficient and effective operation of VMware vSphere infrastructure and provide expert-level support to customers.
Responsibilities:
  1. VMware vSphere Infrastructure:
  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere virtualization infrastructure.
  • Perform migrations from Hyper-V to VMware, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum data integrity.
  • Configure and optimize VMware vSphere clusters, hosts, and virtual machines for performance and scalability.
  • Implement high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery solutions using VMware technologies.
  1. MX7000 Administration and Configuration:
  • Administer and configure Dell EMC MX7000 infrastructure components, including servers, storage, and networking.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper integration of MX7000 with VMware vSphere.
  • Optimize MX7000 configurations for performance, reliability, and resource utilization.
  1. PowerStore Administration:
  • Administer and configure Dell EMC PowerStore storage systems in conjunction with VMware vSphere.
  • Provision and manage storage resources to support virtualization workloads.
  • Implement data protection and replication solutions for PowerStore.
  1. Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
  • Monitor the performance and health of VMware vSphere infrastructure using monitoring tools.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, capacity issues, and system errors.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal performance.
  1. Security and Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance standards within the VMware vSphere environment.
  • Perform regular security assessments and audits, addressing vulnerabilities and ensuring adherence to policies.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including infrastructure diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Generate reports on system performance, capacity, and utilization for management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining VMware vSphere infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise in VMware vSphere, including vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, DRS, and HA.
  • Hands-on experience with migrations from Hyper-V to VMware, ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Proficiency in MX7000 administration and configuration, including server, storage, and networking components.
  • Experience in Dell EMC PowerStore administration and integration with VMware vSphere.
  • In-depth knowledge of virtualization technologies, server hardware, and storage systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Certifications in VMware vSphere (VCP-DCV) and Dell EMC (e.g., Dell EMC PowerStore Specialist) are preferred.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (such as VMware Cloud on AWS) is a plus.
